Gurugram has no shortage of places selling "designer" eyewear, and prices for the same-looking frame can vary far more than the frame itself does. Here's what's actually worth checking before you buy.
Authorised Stock vs. Grey Market
Grey-market frames are genuine products sold outside a brand's authorised distribution channel — not counterfeit, but not covered by the manufacturer's warranty in India either, and often missing the batch-specific quality checks authorised retailers require. A noticeably lower price on a well-known style is the most common signal. Ask directly whether a retailer is an authorised stockist for the brand — a legitimate one will answer plainly.
What to Physically Check
Authentic frames have consistent, clean logo etching (not printed or peeling), a proper serial or model number etched inside the temple, and hinges that move smoothly without excess play. Packaging matters less than people assume — grey-market sellers can source genuine boxes — but the frame's own construction details are harder to fake convincingly.
Warranty Reality
An authentic frame from an authorised retailer typically carries the brand's manufacturer warranty against defects. A grey-market or counterfeit frame generally has none — if a hinge fails in six months, there's no one to call. This is one of the more expensive lessons buyers learn after the fact.
What We Carry
Every frame at Vision Optique — Ray-Ban, Emporio Armani, Oakley, and the rest of our range — is sourced as authorised, authentic stock, which is part of why we can offer real after-sales support: adjustments, hinge checks, and warranty handling, not just a sale.
Lenses Matter As Much As the Frame
A genuine designer frame paired with a poor lens is still a poor pair of glasses. We glaze every frame we sell with ZEISS lenses fitted to your prescription, rather than treating the lens as an afterthought to the brand name.
